  • It’s a backpacking trip - you travel with a budget, stay in hostels, homestays or budget hotels with other travellers coming from different parts of the world, you explore the culture of North East, explore the beautiful town of Shillong - either by walk or by local transport, try the different local food, drink different beers, enjoy their nightlife and above all making memories for life.

  • An experience that will leave you breathless literally! (Quite a few treks) 

  • Couples are welcome but keep note you would be staying in backpack hostel’s where you would be staying in dorms shared by other people + bathrooms will be shared too if this arrangement does not work for you we can book a private room for you but that further extends the budget. 

  • The trip cost is 35,000 INR Inclusive of GST

Trip Itinerary

Your trip starts from Guwahati. You have to reach Guwahati by Date - 05th August'18 afternoon at 2 pm.

 

Day 1- Reaching Shillong (5th August)

 

  • Reach Guwahati by afternoon

  • Airport Shuttle or cab to Shillong –That will drop you to your homestay.

  • Check in the hotel with a welcome drink. And then head out for dinner to the local market. Dinner & Drinks.

 Day 2 – Shillong (6th August)

 

  • Exploring the local tourist sites-

  • Ward’s lake, Don Bosco Tribal Museum,

  • Shopping centers, nightlife, and back to the hotel. Check out the next morning

 

Day 3 – Nongriat  (7th August)

 

  • Breakfast, checkout and then a trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. Lunch at the banks of the river or after depending on the availability. 

  • Carry swimming trunks and a towel if you want to dip into the stream. If you plan to stay, walk around on other trails to nearby villages and take a dip in many waterfalls along the way. Also, trek up for an hour to Rainbow Falls, which is supposedly very scenic and highly recommended by all trekkers and locals alike. Chances of spotting an actual rainbow over the waterfalls are very high. It rains abruptly making the stairs slippery, so wear trekking boots and waterproof your camera and phones. Travel light.

  • Stay at a homestay in Nongriat.

 

Day 4 – Sohra (Cherrapunjee) (8th August)

 

  • Checkout and then exploring the rich natural heritage of Sohra which includes sightseeing:

  • Mawkdok Dympep Valley View 

  • Eco Park

  • Nohsngithiang Falls

  • Nohkalikai Falls

  • Mawsmai Cave

  • Thangkharang Park                   

  • Back to Shillong and in the evening head to a local cafe for food and drinks.

   

Day 5 – Umngot River and the oldest living root bridge (9th August)

 

  • Trek to the Root Bridge and tea by the banks of the river of the oldest root bridge.

  • Then off to the clear water Umngot river in Dawki. A boat ride across the river crossing the border of Bangladesh. 

  • And finally to Asia’s cleanest village for a sky view for an amazing view. 

  • Back to Shillong and in the evening head to a local cafe for food and drinks.

 

Day 6 – Laitlum Canyons (10th August)

 

  • After breakfast, we start our day by visiting View of the Laitlum canyons and picnic 

  • Back to Shillong. Exploring the local shopping centers, nightlife, and back to the hotel. 

 

Day 7 – Guwahati (11th August)

 

  • Departure to Guwahati airport in the morning at 10 am.

 

Inclusions:

 

  • Cabs from Guwahati Airport to Shillong

  • Breakfasts 

  • All hostel, homestay or hotel accommodations (unless you want a private stay)

  • All cabs and local transports

  • Breakfast at a few hotels 

  • Internal public transport wherever applicable (unless you want for personal use)

  • Entry fees of the various location visited (unless you are from abroad)

  • Your safety at all times

 

Exclusions:

 

  • Flights to Guwahati 

  • Travel Insurance

  • Lunch & dinner and drinks at all times 

  • Entry tickets and permits

  • Anything not mentioned 

  • Rain gears (raincoats, umbrellas, etc)

  • Specific tour guide fees

  • Local taxes paid 

  • Due to any unavoidable circumstances - if any route changes or plan change -- the extra cost would be incurred individually **

 

 

Terms & Conditions

 

  • You are an adult and you have to take full responsibility for yourself at all times and respect other culture.

  •  If you are caught doing anything illegal you would be facing the consequences alone, travel to discover will not come into the picture.

  • You have to follow all the instructions told by the trip leader at all times.

  • When you are traveling alone you have to tell the team about your whereabouts.

  • You have to abide by all rules and regulation of another country.

  • You would be traveling with other people, you have to respect everyone's privacy.

  • We have a plan/itinerary for the whole trip but some things might get changed according to the situation please be prepared. (like flight delays etc)

  • No refund in case of cancellation of flights of interconnecting flights/trains.

  • We would be staying in backpacker hostel all the time and would be sharing the room with other people, you are responsible for your own stuff and yourself
